By pro­fess­ion a watch­mak­er and jew­el­er, Wright was for se­ven years a chor­is­ter in Win­ches­ter Ca­thed­ral. He lat­er served as or­gan­ist of Christ Church, San­down, Isle of Wight (1864 to 1872), then be­came or­gan­ist at St. Sav­iour’s, Shank­lin, Isle of Wight, where he was still serv­ing as of 1891.
