After pas­tor­ing at Meth­od­ist Epis­co­pal church­es in In­di­a­na, Dar­wood moved to New York Ci­ty. There, he served at the Bed­ford Street Church for three years; the Wash­ing­ton Heights Church three more years; five years in Yonk­ers; and at the Eight­eenth Street Church (1899-1909).
