Helmore graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford (BA 1840, MA 1845). He was ordained in the Anglican church and became vice-principal and precentor at St. Mark’s College, Chelsea, where he served 35 years. In 1846 he was appointed master of the choristers in the Chapel Royal. His works include:
