Helmore grad­u­at­ed from Mag­da­len Coll­ege, Ox­ford (BA 1840, MA 1845). He was or­dained in the Ang­li­can church and be­came vice-prin­ci­pal and pre­cen­tor at St. Mark’s Coll­ege, Chel­sea, where he served 35 years. In 1846 he was ap­point­ed mas­ter of the chor­is­ters in the Chap­el Roy­al. His works inc­lude:
