As of 1881, Light­hall, a Meth­od­ist, lived in L’Aca­die, in the St. Jean region of Qué­bec. He was lat­er a sta­tion agent for the Del­a­ware & Hud­son Rail­road for over 30 years, had a num­ber of po­ems pub­lished in the Troy, New York, Times.
