Converted at a Meth­od­ist camp meet­ing in Pauls­bo­ro, New Jer­sey, Stock­ton was or­dained in 1832, and served in the New Jer­sey Con­fer­ence of the Meth­od­ist Epis­co­pal Church. Ac­tive in evan­gel­ism, his works in­clude:
