Trembath played the or­gan at St John’s, Truro, Corn­wall (1862-1869), and grad­u­at­ed from New Coll­ege, Ox­ford, in 1869; while at Ox­ford he was friends with Fred­er­ick Gore-Ouse­ley and John Stain­er. He then served as or­gan­ist at St. Ma­ry’s, Truro (1869-1874), and be­came a Fel­low of the Roy­al Coll­ege of Or­gan­ists (Hon­or­ia Cau­sa) in 1875. He went on to become the or­gan­ist and choir­mas­ter at St. John’s Church, Isle­worth, Mid­dle­sex (1874-1907). He al­so stu­died at the Roy­al Acad­e­my of Mu­sic un­der Stern­dale Ben­nett and Mac­far­ren.
