Trembath played the organ at St John’s, Truro, Cornwall (1862-1869), and graduated from New College, Oxford, in 1869; while at Oxford he was friends with Frederick Gore-Ouseley and John Stainer. He then served as organist at St. Mary’s, Truro (1869-1874), and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists (Honoria Causa) in 1875. He went on to become the organist and choirmaster at St. John’s Church, Isleworth, Middlesex (1874-1907). He also studied at the Royal Academy of Music under Sterndale Bennett and Macfarren.
