Wernecke attended Milwaukee State Teachers College, Mission House (now Lakeland), Southern Baptist Seminary, Hope Seminary, and Princeton Seminary. He taught Religious Education at Central Theological Seminary and at Eden Theological Seminary, Webster Groves, Missouri, after the two schools merged. His works include:
