Professor, hymnologist, hymn translator and author, Crull attended Concordia College in St. Louis, Missouri, and Fort Wayne, Indiana, graduating in 1862. He served as assistant pastor of Trinity Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (1865); as pastor in Grand Rapids, Michigan (1871-73); and as instructor of German and French at Concordia College, Fort Wayne, Indiana. His works include:
